UPSC CMS 2026: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification (Examination Notice No. 9/2026-CMS) for the Combined Medical Services Examination, 2026. Eligibility Criteria
1. Age Limit (As on 01.08.2026):
For ADMO (Railways), GDMO (NDMC) & GDMO (MCD): Candidates must not have attained the age of 32 years as on 1st August 2026 (i.e., born not earlier than 2nd August 1994).
For Medical Officers (CHS): The upper age limit must not exceed 35 years as on 1st August 2026.
Age Relaxation: SC/ST (5 Years), OBC (3 Years), PwBD (10 Years), Ex-Servicemen (5 Years) as per Govt. rules.
2. Educational Qualification:
For admission to the examination, a candidate should have passed the written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. Examination.
Note: Candidates who have appeared or are yet to appear at the final M.B.B.S. Examination may also apply, provided they produce proof of passing before the specified deadline later. Candidates who have yet to complete the compulsory rotating internship are also educationally eligible, but appointment will be made only after its completion.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The examination will be conducted in two stages:
Written Examination (500 Marks):
Paper I (250 Marks, 2 Hours): General Medicine (96 Questions) and Paediatrics (24 Questions). Total 120 Objective questions.
Paper II (250 Marks, 2 Hours): Surgery (40 Qs), Gynaecology & Obstetrics (40 Qs), and Preventive & Social Medicine (40 Qs). Total 120 Objective questions.
Negative Marking: 1/3rd (0.33) marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
Personality Test / Interview (100 Marks): Candidates qualifying the written exam will be called for the Interview, testing general knowledge, academic ability, balance of judgement, and integrity of character.
How to Apply
Candidates must first complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process on the UPSC portal: https://upsconline.nic.in (if not done already).
Login using your OTR ID to access the Common Application Form (CAF) and Examination Specific Form for CMS 2026.
Upload necessary documents, including a Photo ID (Aadhaar preferred), scanned signature (signed three times on white paper), and capture your Live Photograph directly through the portal.
Pay the application fee of ₹ 200/- (if applicable).
Submit the application form before the deadline of 31.03.2026 (06:00 P.M.). Note that no withdrawal or modification is allowed after final submission.
