UPSC CAPF Recruitment 2026: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has published the Examination Notice (No. 08/2026-CAPF) for the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2026. Eligible Male and Female candidates can apply online to fill 349 Assistant Commandant (Group A) positions across various forces including BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB.

The tentative number of vacancies to be filled on the basis of the results of the examination is 349. The force-wise distribution is as follows:

Note: 10% of the total vacancies are earmarked for Ex-servicemen.

• Notification Released: 20th February 2026

• Online Application Starts: 20th February 2026

• Last Date to Apply Online: 12th March 2026 (till 18:00 Hours)

• Written Examination Date: 19th July 2026

Eligibility Criteria

1. Age Limit (As on 01.08.2026):

• Minimum Age: 20 Years

• Maximum Age: 25 Years

• Candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 2001 and not later than 1st August 2006.

• Age Relaxation: SC/ST (5 Years), OBC (3 Years), Civilian Central Government Servants & Ex-Servicemen (5 Years).

2. Educational Qualification:

• Candidates must hold a Bachelor''s degree from a recognized University or possess an equivalent qualification.

• Desirable: Possession of an NCC ''B'' or ''C'' Certificate will be considered at the time of the Interview/Personality Test.

• Both Male and Female candidates are eligible to apply.

Selection Process

The selection will be conducted in the following stages:

1. Written Examination: Comprises two papers to be held on 19th July 2026.

   • Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence (250 Marks) - Objective Type.

   • Paper II: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension (200 Marks) - Descriptive Type.

2. Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests (PET) & Medical Standards Tests: Candidates qualifying the written exam will undergo PET (100m/800m race, Long Jump, Shot Put) and medical evaluations.

3. Interview / Personality Test: Carries 150 Marks.

4. Final Merit List: Based on combined marks obtained in the Written Exam and Interview.
