Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially released the centralized employment notification (CEN No. 09/2025) for the recruitment of various Level 1 (formerly Group D) posts across Indian Railways. This is a massive opportunity for 10th pass and ITI candidates looking for a government job in the Railway sector.

Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the official RRB regional websites from 31 January 2026 to 02 March 2026. Below are the complete details regarding the vacancy, eligibility criteria, selection process, and exam pattern.

Job Details & Vacancy Breakdown

The recruitment drive aims to fill 22,195 vacancies across various zones of Indian Railways. Selected candidates will be placed in Level 1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must ensure they meet the following eligibility standards as on 01 January 2026.

1. Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have passed 10th Class (Matriculation) from a recognized Board/NCVT OR

• ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certificate in relevant trade OR

• National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

2. Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)

• Minimum Age: 18 Years

• Maximum Age: 33 Years

Age Relaxation is applicable as per government rules:

• OBC (NCL): 3 Years

• SC / ST: 5 Years

• PwBD (UR/EWS): 10 Years

Selection Process

The selection for RRB Level 1 posts will be based on a four-stage process:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): A single online exam.

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Qualifying in nature.

3. Document Verification (DV): Verification of original certificates.

4. Medical Examination (ME): As per Railway medical standards.

Exam Pattern (CBT)

• Duration: 90 Minutes (120 Minutes for PwBD)

• Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark deducted for every wrong answer.

How to Apply

Follow these steps to apply for the RRB Level 1 Recruitment 2026:

• Step 1: One-Time Registration (OTR) Visit the official website www.rrbapply.gov.in. If you are a new user, you must complete the One-Time Registration process to create your account. If you already have an account, simply skip to the next step.

• Step 2: Login & Select Region Log in using your registered credentials. Once logged in, select the specific RRB Region you wish to apply for.

• Step 3: Fill the Application Form Carefully enter all required details, including your Personal Information, Educational Qualifications, and Address. Ensure there are no spelling mistakes.

• Step 4: Upload Documents Upload the scanned copy of your Signature and SC/ST Certificate (if you are claiming reservation) in the prescribed format and size.

• Step 5: Pay Application Fee Complete the process by paying the application fee through online modes (Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, or UPI).

• Step 6: Submit & Print After final submission, take a Printout of the application form. Keep this safe for document verification in the future.

Important Note: If you made a mistake in your application, a Modification Window will be available from 05 March to 14 March 2026. You can correct details by paying a modification fee.
