BPSC Civil Judge Recruitment 2026: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released Advertisement No. 12/2026 for the 33rd Bihar Judicial Service Competitive Examination. Online applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens to fill up 173 vacancies for the post of Civil Judge (Junior Division) [असैनिक न्यायाधीश - कनीय कोटि].

A total of 173 vacancies are available, with a 35% horizontal reservation for female candidates. The category-wise distribution is as follows:

Note: 02 posts are horizontally reserved for Orthopedically Handicapped (OH) candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Age Limit:

• Minimum Age (As on 01.08.2025): 22 Years

• Maximum Age (As on 01.08.2022): 35 Years

• Age Relaxation: For reserved category candidates and all female candidates, the maximum age limit is up to 40 Years.

• Retirement age for Judicial Officers is 60 years.

2. Educational Qualification & Experience:

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor''s Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent from a University/Institute recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI).

• Experience Requirement: Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a legal practitioner at the Bar as of the notification date (23.02.2026). Experience is counted from the date of provisional enrollment/registration with the State Bar Council.

Application Fee

Note: Candidates who do not provide their Aadhaar Number as identity proof in the online application will have to pay an additional Biometric Fee of ₹ 200/-.

Selection Process (Scheme of Examination)

The examination will be conducted in three stages:

1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type):

   • Paper I: General Studies (100 Marks, 1.5 Hours)

   • Paper II: Law (150 Marks, 2.0 Hours)

2. Written Main Examination (Subjective Type):

   • Compulsory Subjects: General Hindi (100 Marks), General English (100 Marks), General Knowledge (150 Marks), Elementary General Science (100 Marks), Law of Evidence & Procedure (150 Marks).

   • Optional Subjects: Candidates must choose 3 out of 5 specified Law subjects (150 Marks each).

3. Interview / Personality Test: 100 Marks (Minimum qualifying mark is 35%).

How to Apply

• Candidates must first complete the One Time Registration (OTR) on the BPSC portal: bpsconline.bihar.gov.in.

• Log in using the registered credentials to access the candidate dashboard.

• Fill out the detailed application form and upload mandatory documents (via DigiLocker or manually).

• Upload a live photograph using a webcam and scanned signatures in both Hindi and English.

• Pay the application fee online before the deadline and lock the profile.

• Download and print two copies of the submitted application form for future reference and document verification.
